Alicia has made Berwyn her home for the past 17 years. She completes her degree in Urban Planning from the University of Illinois Chicago in 2017. She has been a licensed realtor since 2002.
Alicia is passionate about helping make home ownership a realistic goal for all families. She demonstrates her strong leadership ability on several community development initiatives to which she was nominated by her community and by Mayor Lovero. Alicia serves on Berwyn’s Zoning Board of Appeals, the Berwyn Historic Preservation Commission and the City of Homes organization. Alicia belongs to the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) as well as the Chicago Association of Realtors. Not only does Alicia work with first-time homebuyers, but also with investors and has expanded her business to include relocation and resale.
The oldest of five children, Alicia, of Mexican descent, has raised three children as a single mom. She lives with her two dogs, Samson & Pebbles, in Berwyn’s 6th Ward. Today, Alicia has six grandchildren all who attend Berwyn schools. In her spare time, Alicia enjoys hanging out with family and friends, traveling and working out to stay fit and healthy. She also loves attending theater performances, and enjoys music and dancing.
Helping residents who own and occupy multi-unit homes is a strong concern for Alicia, who is designing programs to educate these property owners on how to deal with tenant/landlord issues. As alderman, she works to bring together multiple organizations and resources for this purpose. Since the owner-occupied rental building is, in fact, a small business, it is important to Alicia that these businesses succeed in Berwyn.
Alicia is most proud of her family, of being a successful small-business owner, and of being the first in her family to earn a college diploma.
Alicia holds regular meetings with 6th Ward residents to discuss ways to improve the safety and quality of life in the neighborhood. Alicia is a very involved Berwyn resident, making time to support local events and listen to her neighbors’ concerns in the 6th Ward and prides herself on being an active and available 6th Ward Alderman.
